How would you feel about losing PowerPC support?

Ok so you might be wondering why I'm several days past my deadline with a new release.

Well the reason is the version of XCode that I have has dropped support for PowerPC. I've been trying to work around this issue but so far I've been unsuccessful. So I'm curious how many users would be affected if I dropped PowerPC support?

Basically moving to the newest XCode makes it difficult to support even Mac OS 10.4 on Intel let alone 10.4 on PowerPC.

So I'm curious what version of OS X you want support for (10.4 and newer, 10.5 and newer, or 10.6 which is the current version) and if you need PowerPC support?

Hope you van fix this?

IMHO just build for the latest release of the OS.

Should people want to use legacy equipment it should not come down on other people.

Just my 2 cents...

Sure, why not If it makes program distinctively better.

No one can expect a developer to provide legacy support forever. Simply provide a link to an earlier, PowerPC-compatible version with the disclaimer that the old version is provided on an 'unsupported' basis. Before an actual download can take place, you should probably have an 'Unsupported Software Terms of Usage' dialog that will not allow the download unless the individual acknowledges they have read and accept your terms of non-support.

PowerPC support would be much appreciated, but you don't have to support anything before OS 10.5.8 imo. Tiger is getting too outdated even among PPC G4-G5 users.

I should add that many people are still using the latest G5s (i.e. quad G5s from 2005), and even some like me use upgraded-to-the-core G4s. Those are good computers. Its already a shame that apple dropped support for computers they sold about 5 years ago -- while Microsoft keeps XP (2001) support and allows you to install vista/7 on any old machine -- you don't have to be a part of this mess ;)
